6.1 Introduction

The Trinity: Six Models (II)

An astonishing amount of theology was conducted in the twentieth century. With the rise of Pentecostalism, charismatic renewal movements, two world wars, a lot of thinking and rethinking was done regarding the standing of scripture, the relevance of the gospel, and the integrity of doctrine. With all of this arose many new thinkers across the theological and denominational spectrum; Paul Tillich, Wolfhart Pannenberg, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Emil Brunner, just to mention a few. The historical and spiritual development of the times, led many to reformulate entire portions of doctrine, as they saw needs that needed to be met. We shall look at two such examples within the context of the doctrine of the Trinity.
