The worship service expresses and signifies the heart of a Christian congregation’s existence. For this reason, one of the central tasks of a church leader is the design and celebration of the worship service. The pastor bears the responsibility of creating a worship service that is attractive and inviting, in order that the intended blessings of the service may unfold in the lives of the congregants. In addition to the regular Sunday worship service, congregational leaders also have to lead the congregation during special events, e.g. weddings and funerals/memorial services, as well as celebrating the special feasts of the Christian church year. This course is designed to prepare the student to lead the church congregation in these expressions of public worship.
In addition to introducing the skills for preparation and celebration of various worship service events, this course also provides an overview of various liturgical traditions and their theological significance.
